Hair and Make-Up

The most important thing to remember is to look after yourself well in advance of your big day. Don’t let the stresses of planning the wedding make you look tired when the day comes, remember to pamper yourself as much as possible! Ask your future husband do the cooking and cleaning (if he doesn’t already) so you can spend time preening yourself.

The best tip is to drink plenty of water and maintain a healthy diet, doing this means your skin, hair and nails will look their best! There a plenty of beauty treatments that will help along side a healthy diet and these don’t need to be expensive, you can buy some fantastic products on the high street that are easy to use at home. Make sure you invest in a good body scrub and moisturiser and start using them early so your skin will look and feel silky smooth on the day.

When it comes to make-up, aim to look as natural as possible. Your husband is going to want you to look like you so try not to over do it on the big day. Don’t do anything drastically different this is where people can go wrong; wearing too much make-up you can ruin your look completely, remember that make-up is designed to enhance what you already have not hide it.

If you are thinking of doing your own make-up you may want to invest in a good make-up guide. If you don’t feel confident enough there are now more make-up artists available to you than ever before. The internet is great for searching for all things wedding based as you can see results straight away from pictures online. Make sure you have several appointments before your wedding day so that you can experiment with different looks, if you don’t feel comfortable with someone then don’t feel guilty about making your excuses and moving on to the next person until you find someone you are completely happy with.

Another good tip is stick to what you know, it is very tempting to have brand new make-up for your big day but make sure you try it out first. The last thing you want is to find you are allergic to any of your products on the day of your wedding.

Do it yourself make-up tips…

· Apply foundation that matches your skin tone. The right foundation should appear to disappear when you put it on your face and remember to blend it into your neck too so you don’t have a line of foundation.
· Concealer that is yellow in tone mutes imperfections without adding colour, giving your skin a natural look.
· Choose a blush colour that is close to the colour of your cheeks after you've exercised.
· Apply eye make-up in earthy tones, beige, brown, gold or plum for shadows and brown and charcoal grey for liner and mascara. Skip liner or shadow entirely if you want to keep your make-up light.
· Choose a lipstick colour that's suited to your skin tone. You can mix colours and textures to suit your gown should you have any colour in it. Remember not to go too drastic. Bright reds suit dark hair and blondes but remember to keep the rest of your make-up as natural as possible if you choose a dark lippy. If you are unsure stick to a clear lip gloss that will just add a bit of shine rather then any colour.

Hair.

It is always vital to look after your hair but never more than when you are planning on getting married. Hair can become dull and lifeless if it is not cared for properly and extra stress reflects in the condition of your hair. To get that dream look make sure you have your hair trimmed regularly, this will keep it looking healthy and also speeds up hair growth. As well as using your normal shampoo and conditioner treat yourself to a hair mask which you only need to use once a week, there are some great and inexpensive options on the high-street now.
There are plenty of things you can do to keep your hair looking healthy. But your regular hairdresser will know your hair better than anyone, so make an appointment early in your wedding schedule and let the experts advise you on the best ways to make your hair look stunning.

Styling your hair is an essential for your big day. To get the perfect hair-do for your wedding try experimenting with different styles. Doing this you will allow you to decide what you defiantly do like and what you definitely don’t.
Get yourself into your local newsagent or supermarket and stock up on some magazines, or alternatively try the internet for inspiration on what to do with your hair, take the pictures along to your consultations so your hairdresser will know exactly what you are trying to achieve.
Be realistic - is your hair straight / thick / long enough for the style you like? Select several styles to show your stylist and ask to try each of them out. Be open to new ideas and any advice your stylist gives you as they usually know best.
