Saville House School is a small independent school based on Church Street in Mansfield Woodhouse. The school has been in existence for almost 60 years and sits in an acre of walled gardens, where safety is a high priority. Our teachers are experienced, caring professionals; many have spent more than 20 years teaching in the school. The small classes of between 8 – 16 pupils provide our children with the opportunities to achieve their academic potential within a family environment where they feel valued, fulfilled, confident and emotionally literate and are prepared for their continuing education. Open days are not arranged as we prefer to spend time showing each parent and their child around the school, introducing them to our teachers and the children. For a prospectus or to arrange to view the school please call 01623 625068.
The first Cherubs Day Nursery opened in January 1993 offering quality childcare for children from 6 weeks to 5 years with on site out of schools clubs for children 3 – 13 years. Our emphasis has always been on offering quality care and education in stimulating surroundings where children feel relaxed and happy.
At Cherubs we plan and provide activities in accordance with the Birth to Three Matters framework and the Foundation Stage, providing stimulating and exciting activities for all ages, providing every opportunity for our children to explore, experience, experiment and investigate. We consider our parents to be very important and embrace their partnership with the nursery. Our Birth to Three rooms provide full choice and selection of activities. Staff work within the areas of the framework offering help and assistance to each individual child. Our Foundation room offers separate areas for the 6 areas of learning promoting good behaviour, independence and choice. Staff work with each individual child developing their skills and knowledge.
We choose our staff carefully and have a mix of mature and experienced staff along with younger enthusiastic and energetic staff. Our staff undergo a through induction programme, and are monitored regularly to ensure the quality of service we provide.
Since Ofsted’s new grading system we have achieved more of the ‘outstanding’ grading than any other nursery group in Nottinghamshire.

Longdale Nursery School was opened in September 1996. Situated off the A60 mid-way between Mansfield and Nottingham in the village of Ravenshead. The Nursery is set in over an acre of land in the beautiful open countryside of Sherwood Forest. It was the first private day nursery in Nottinghamshire to have achieved the ‘Outstanding’ grade in all areas of the new integrated Ofsted inspection that took place in 2006. There is still only one other nursery in Nottinghamshire to achieve this grade.
We are very safety conscious all doors are coded and locked. Parents enter the site via the parents’ car park situated at the front of the building.
We are effective in helping our children make a positive contribution to our provision and the wider community by accessing the library, church, local park and leisure centre. We also use the mobile library which visits the site.
The Nursery has spacious brightly decorated rooms all with carpeted and hard floor areas. Our rooms are all named after flowers: Daisy, Buttercup, Snowdrop, Sunflower and the Nursery School. The rooms are equipped with resources to the age and development of the children.
We deliver both the Birth to Three Matters framework and the Foundation Stage curriculum, providing stimulating and exciting activities for all ages. The staff work with each individual child developing their skills and knowledge. We provide every opportunity for our children to explore, experience, experiment and investigate. We are very effective in helping our children to enjoy what they do and achieve as well as they can.
Every room open outs onto a very large, secure outdoor grassed area allowing them the opportunity to access all areas of the Foundation Stage Curriculum and the Birth to Three Framework both inside and outside.
Parents and extended family members are very important; we embrace their partnership with the nursery. Our dedicated staff team, which consists of male and female staff who have a blend of maturity and experience, are fully committed to their role and are constantly updating their knowledge and qualification to enable them to provide the highest standards of care and education.
Our Kid’s Club offer before, after and school holiday provision for children aged 4 -11 years collecting from Abbey Gates and Ravenshead Church of England Schools. The Kids’ Club has two rooms so the younger children can have their own room. We offer all children in the Kids’ Club a wide variety of creative activities such as modelling and jewellery making. It also has an excellent section of games, construction area, role play, computer, play station, videos and DVDs. There are lots of trips and visits throughout the school holidays – bowling, swimming, day trips to the coast, sports days, Rufford Park, cinema, fun parks etc. Our children enjoy a relaxed, but stimulating environment.
The Nursery is open 51 weeks of the year opening at 7.15a.m. closing at 6.15 p.m. We offer a balanced and nutritious diet, promoting five a day fruit and vegetables eating plan. Our fully balanced menu is freshly prepared on the premises. Children are encouraged to develop their independence by brushing their teeth after each meal, washing hands before meals, selecting their own cups and utensils.
Our mission statement is to ensure that we provide the highest possible standard of care and education for all our children, in a warm relaxed and safe environment with dedicated staff who nurture each child’s development.
